Ayin Es: ex-musician

I once was a drummer and stuff.

Ayin Es - drummer

I figured I'd put together a page with a small sampling of music I have either played on or written, or a little of both. I wish I had recordings of everything I've done, but I just don't so I've gathered together a bit of what I had, beginning with some tracks from 1993 when I played with a rap/hip hop project called Circle of Power off an album with Rumble Recordings. Hip hop and R&B was my specialty, locking it down and playing in the pocket. I was never one of these hot-shot rock n' roll drummers. I was a groove player, so this project was where I was most comfortable.

Unseen Offspring + Psycho, is a combination of live drums and loops, as is 1 for da trouble, while Live from da Treehouse was a live recording with the entire Blak Forest Crew free styling on a single mic (taking turns) while I continuously played throughout the track.

I was also in an Alternative rock band called the Extinct for five years and we covered a lot of ground: recording, touring, writing, playing, fighting, playing, gigging, and gigging some more. We were signed to a Sony publishing deal but we put out our album on our own label in 1995. Typical songs of the band sounded like Need or Choice, but then there were songs I co-wrote with the guitar player and the rest of the band that sounded a little more like Timeless.

I also played on a couple of tracks for Rickie Lee Jones on her Ghostyhead album in 1996. It was a combination of live playing and looped recordings on both radios tracks, Matters and Firewalker.

In 1998 I got the gumption to make my own demo called "Crappy." It's the first time I ever sang into a microphone, so I sound pretty shaky, but it came out okay. It was produced by Thad Corea at Tiger Pit Studios in Los Angeles. Here are two songs from the demo, B-52 and Dig Me.
