On each pattern, I only pencil, felt-tip and ball-point pens concurrent with ink stamping, as if the pattern were going "out for manufacturing." This was how I did it when I worked in the garment business. The pattern shapes are prepared just as they would be in the apparel industry. However, I'm using many textile terms satirically, as well as cutting room rants, poems, dreams, mixed with various anecdotes, such as personal worries about being an artist and working in the Los Angeles art world. These candid compositions are created in the spur of the moment without any previous planning. I never know what I'll wind up with.
