Today's Quandary.

An Artist's book about Artists' books by Carol Es, 2013.

If there is such a thing as an accidental publication, this would be it. That might sound confusing, and trust me - it is - but half way between the making of Houses, and Carol Es une Monographie de Lignes, something odd happened along the way: the sudden channeling of writing thoughts, ideas, memories and realizations in the midst of working on these other two publications.

Well I couldn't help myself. Even though these other Artist's books were in the process of being created, this other thing materialized. It was something of a diary-entry-meets-art-philosophy-manifesto of 28 black and white pages, and an honest look into the private inspiration of this small publication here before you.

This book is predominantly writing, but there are eight illustrations scattered among the pages that show past and the upcoming content of some of the books that were created between 2008-2014.

With the quick help of Bill Roberts of Bottle of Smoke Press, a beautiful edition of 50 went into production that included an especially attractive, 100% cotton Crane Lettra paper cover. This paper is nice and soft, so the drawing and the text made a deep impression - a very handsome touch, I must say. And each copy includes an original colored pencil and ink drawing on the front page, so each book is original and different from the next.

All Today's Quandary. books are officially signed and numbered in the back of each book and are limited to 50 copies only, with two extra presentation copies and two hardcover copies. There are also five copies within the edition with varied title/author coloring in dark red, and the books are 8.5 x 5.5 inches.
