About This Artwork: A "spin-flip" happens when the "spin" axis of a rotating black hole has a sudden change because it absorbs a second or more (smaller) black hole(s) like a sponge. They are believed to be entire galaxies merging together. It's basically when two supermassive black holes form "bound" pairs at the center of a merged galaxy that grow together after sending off gravitational waves, so be careful what kind of waves you emit. You might be sucking in other black holes and forming your own bigger galaxies! The next thing you know, you might create a reverse Big Bang. Then what?! We'd have to start all over again...
