Discarded Snapshots

Abstracted family photographs by Ayin Es.

This is a new series where I'm revisiting a suitcase full of old family photos. Riffling through the pile, I am looking for candid moments where I can be a distant onlooker. I'm trying to use my adult eyes and a nonbinary lens to view a complicated family history. Addressing more than personal memory or hindsight, I'm attempting to right certain injustices in emotive, subtle ways to represent those who long to be seen and acknowledged.

Since this is a very new body of work, I will be posting the pieces as I finish them.
