These are small installations I've called little "vignettes," consisting of colored Czechoslovakian glass-head sewing pins, upholstery thread, and pencil made directly onto the wall. They cast interesting shadows with light. The thread is tied one inch above the surface of the wall and shadows from both the pins and a secondary line from the thread bounce beside the vignette depending which way the light is facing. I did a solo show of these at the Torrance Art Museum in 2007 and have since created custom ones in people's homes. I am also able to create non-permanent ones on thin panels that easily blend into the wall.
