Sublime

The strength of Carol Es and her work is her wit. The exhibition last night at Gallery 825, My Identity Lab, made me smile. That is so rare in art shows these days. The soft meticulous cut-out forms of sewing patterns combined with the science lab environment was in itself a leap of the imagination: A microscopic view of the needle, the colored straight pins, clever hanging tags with great titles, and the scientist's robe hanging on a hook with a pin on it's lapel reads "Super Genius." As I stepped out of the gallery I immediately noticed the crescent moon and it, too, made me smile.
