About This Artwork: This was the first painting on canvas I did in 2012, after taking a long break from painting regularly. It marks the turning point of my painting getting to be more consciously abstract. This is where I began to focus more on painting (the paint) than subject matter. I strive to leave out most, or all, of "cute" little characters in my work, but they continue to reappear because they beg me to be thrown into existence on the canvas in some way. I often can not control this. They want to live, like anybody would, so I continue to incorporate them in some way out of empathy.
